The rolling properties of a tire's rubber compound are primarily determined by three interrelated factors: friction [grip], rolling resistance and mileage [longevity]. The dilemma: If you improve one of these factors, it can have a negative effect on at least one of the others. A tire with maximum grip wears faster and rolls slower. If you then make a tire roll faster and longer, grip, in turn, is reduced.
With our Black Chili compound, a tread compound that is always based on the latest knowledge in polymers and raw material research, we have provided the bicycle industry with a sustainable solution. Depending on a tire's application, we tailor the compound formulation to the specific discipline - for road or mountain biking, time trial or downhill.
